Why the Fit Matters More Than Most Businesses Realise

A box that is even a few millimetres too wide allows movement. Movement during transit causes contact damage, label scuffing and, with glass bottles, breakage.

We see this fairly often when businesses come to us after switching from a stock box supplier. The product is fine. The box is close enough in size. But close enough is not the same as a proper fit, and the difference shows up in returns, damaged stock and customer complaints.

Every bottle packaging box we produce is made to your bottle’s exact dimensions. Where the product is fragile, heavy or particularly valuable, our boxes with protective dividers can include inserts, neck cradles or foam padding to minimise movement during storage and delivery.

Materials and Board Grades

The board grade we recommend depends on the bottle weight, the shipping method and how the box will be displayed.

For retail cartons holding lighter cosmetic or supplement bottles, SBS board (solid bleached sulphate) at 300gsm to 400gsm gives a clean white surface that takes print well and folds crisply. It is the standard choice for shelf-ready packaging.

Heavier glass bottles may require stronger corrugated board options, including an E-flute layer for additional crush resistance. Brands seeking an understated and recyclable appearance can consider natural kraft packaging for oils, artisan products and eco-positioned ranges.

For brands that want a natural or sustainable look, uncoated kraft board is available and works particularly well for CBD oils, artisan food products and eco-positioned skincare ranges.

We will always tell you which board grade makes practical sense for your product rather than just recommending the most expensive option.

Print and Finishing Options

Printing quality varies a lot between packaging suppliers, and it tends to be most obvious on bottle boxes because the surfaces are usually clean and simple, which means any inconsistency in colour or registration stands out.

We print in full CMYK with Pantone matching available for brands where colour accuracy is important. Finishes include:

• Gloss or matte lamination
• Soft-touch matte (popular with premium skincare and fragrance brands)
• Spot UV coating for logo highlights or design details
• Foil blocking in gold, silver or custom colours
• Embossed or debossed branding
• Die-cut windows for product visibility

For gifting applications, ribbon pulls, magnetic closures and two-piece rigid boxes are also available.
